Journey to the 'Edge of the World'

Over the coming months and years, there is no doubt that Covid-19 will be the source of many strange stories. However, they might struggle to match a recent story that appeared recently in the Italian press. A couple from Venice, devout followers of the 'Flat Earth' theory, became convinced that the edge of the earth was somewhere near the island of Lampedusa, which is located to the south of Sicily. During the lockdown, against all of the restrictions, they left Venice, sold their car and bought a boat. In order to find the island, they used a compass, something that as 'Flat Earthers' they should not have believed would work! In their case it didn't. Their navigation was not very accurate and they ended up near the island of Ustica, which is located north of Sicily. They were picked up and placed in quarantine in Palermo. They escaped and returned to sea. The Port Authorities, perhaps aware of their lack of maritime skills, waited for a while and then picked them up again. A few days later, they escaped again and ended up in the house of a psychopathic liar who convinced them he was positive with Covid-19. He wasn't! Enough was enough! They returned to sea, but this time on the ferry back to the mainland and home...
